Software Engineer - Seattle, WA & Durham, NC
We've gotten to that point in our growth where we need to add another one or two Software Engineers to our Development team.
In a nutshell, the role is writing innovative text input software for various mobile device operating systems.
What you'll be doing:
- Implement operating system level API hooks for our software application.
- Develop UI interfaces, including input, help, and tutorials.
- Innovate, create: Come up with and create new features for our software. Keep us ahead of our competition.
- Work directly with major OS and hardware vendors – our customers.
- Customize other operating system application’s interactions with our software application.
- Debug the interactions between our product and the target operating system, as well as other system software.
- Fix your bugs. Help others fix their bugs.
- Help others on the team with hard problems they are trying to overcome.
- …and anything else we may assign (hey, it’s a startup we all wear multiple hats!)
- Requirements:
- Bachelors of Science in Computer Science; Master’s in Computer Science preferred.
- Have been programming in C++ in a cross-platform environment (one of the OS’s needs to be Linux or Windows) for several major software releases, as well as the follow-on minor releases. Bonus if you’ve been involved in both successful and unsuccessful commercial releases.
- Embedded development using one or more of the following operating system: Android, Windows 7 Mobile, iPhone, MeeGo, BREW/BMP, or embedded Linux.
- You’ve used several UI frameworks during your C++ development work.
- You own some scripting language skills in Python and/or Shell.
- Strong interest in computer technology and computer software (for you, it’s not just a job).
- Nice to have: Commercial experience developing for feature phones and smart phones, tablet PCs, mobile internet devices or set-top boxes.
- Need to be excited about working in a fast-moving startup environment.
- Desire candidates with a familiarity with languages beyond English.
- Local candidates preferred.
- FYI: Give the above requirements, we figure it took you 3 – 6 years working in the field post-graduation to own the skills we’re looking for.
- Other Requirements:
- Must be able to work in an office environment.
- Must be able to travel internationally via airline
- Must be able to work in the U.S.

Compensation for this role is comprised of Salary, Stock Options, and Benefits. We base our salaries and our stock option grants on your software engineering skills as determined during our interview process.
